When researchers began mapping the aroma chemistry of Palo Santo wood, they discovered compounds that were new to science. Separate studies published in 2004 and 2005 each identified a previously unreported sesquiterpenoid in Bursera graveolens wood, showing that this centuries-old aromatic material was still revealing previously unknown chemistry to modern researchers.

About Palo Santo Wood Infused Skin Oil

Palo Santo is best known as an aromatic wood. This preparation captures that botanical material in a very different form.

Sacred Plants Australia handcrafts Palo Santo Wood Infused Skin Oil by slowly infusing shaved Bursera graveolens wood into lightweight MCT coconut oil.

Unlike steam-distilled Palo Santo essential oil, this preparation begins with the wood itself. Each batch uses 3 g of Palo Santo wood for every 10 mL of MCT coconut oil before filtration.

The wood is warm infused at approximately 50°C for 24 hours, allowed to rest for approximately 24 hours then carefully filtered through stainless steel.

The finished preparation is a light botanical skin oil intended for external body care and, for those who choose, personal aromatic ritual or anointing practice.

Any aroma comes naturally from the infused Palo Santo wood. No essential oil or fragrance oil is added.

Because this is a handcrafted botanical infusion, aromatic character and intensity may vary subtly between batches.

The MCT coconut oil provides a light, mobile carrier that spreads readily across the skin without the concentrated character of an undiluted essential oil.

This preparation begins with actual Bursera graveolens wood rather than a separately distilled aromatic concentrate.
