Australian Blue Lotus Flower Tea

Nymphaea nouchali

In 2018, researchers studying the living water lily Nymphaea nouchali trimmed its petals until only a tiny section, approximately one centimetre long, remained at the base. Remarkably, the surviving petal tissue could still take part in the flower’s characteristic daily opening and closing movement. The research implicated auxin, a natural plant hormone, in regulating this motion. Even without their spectacular full-length petals, living water lilies retained a remarkable capacity to move in step with the day.

About Australian Blue Lotus

Open the pouch and discover the water lily itself. These Australian-grown flowers are preserved whole, with layered purple-violet petals and intricate central stamens, rather than reduced to separated petals or powder.

Immersed in warm water, the dried flowers gradually soften and expand, inviting a closer look at their extraordinary architecture. The infusion is pale and gently floral, with a light, understated finish.

Organically cultivated in Australia, each bloom reflects its own harvest, with natural variations in size, colour and petal arrangement. A clear glass teapot makes the unfolding flower part of the experience.
